Run Form Injuries

Amazing: about 62% of the injuries point to two running form errors (yellow and pink). About 50% of injuries in this analysis are in our knees and hips.

Many would have correctly guessed that pounding your heel into the ground would cause knee and hip pain. This analysis indicates that about half of the knee and hip pain is due to overstriding/slow cadence/heel strike.

What most of us would not have guessed was that about a third of the knee and hip pain may come from letting your hips drop from side-to-side as that tends to make knees collapse inward thus potentially causing knee pain. You can see that the 'Health' professionals seem to know this whereas the 'Media' non-health professionals did not know/see this.

Conclusion:

Correct the yellow and pink running form mistakes and hopefully avoid a lot of knee and hip problems.
